Featured Redbird Pro Scenarios for August 2022

In this month's featured scenarios, you will experience the challenges of oncoming IMC, circling to land, and an engine failure on takeoff. VFR Flight With IMC in Vicinity

Inadvertent flight into IMC is a killer, and it happens far too often. The subtlety by which visibility can erode presents the danger of losing the ability to see the ground, obstacles, and other traffic while you focus on getting to your destination. Will you make good decisions when VMC starts to turn into IMC?

IFR Circle To Land

Circling to land is one of those weird things where, after flying a strictly regimented glide path to minimums, you suddenly find yourself in a situation where you just (kind of) make up a path to the runway the best way you can. Sure, there are recommended paths to the approach end of the runway based on where you popped out of the clouds, but every situation is a little different. You must also maintain visual contact with the runway environment the whole time you're circling to line up on your intended runway. Otherwise, you have to go missed, and you're not always pointing in an advantageous direction to do that. Plan well, use good ADM, follow the rules of the approach plate, and you'll do fine.

Impossible Turn 

You're going to lose your engine during takeoff, and it's not coming back. In this scenario, which you should fly several times, you can experience how the diabolical "impossible turn" looks and feels. Hopefully, you can also start experimenting to learn how to minimize the risks associated with this very scary situation.
